The Violet Hold was made available in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King beta build 8905. The Violet Hold is located in Dalaran. Rhonin starts the quest around level 75 sending you to Archamge Alturas who gives you the violet key to enter the Violet Hold dungeon. It is similar to Caverns of Time: Black Morass. Waves of dragonkin open portals to invade the Violet Hold. Every five or six waves a boss is released from the prison cells.

Only two random bosses can be faced in this dungeon, the third and last boss is Cyanigosa, a blue dragon.
